What Anyone Can Do to Support Ukraine

• Distribute “We stand with Ukraine" signs:

  If you live near Nancy Fischer in Woodland, call her at 505-670-3971 to get 5 or more yard signs. Pay $1.25 per sign and distribute them to your neighbors and friends. If you do not live near Nancy, call your local printer and order 25-50 signs, 12” by 18”, blue on the top and yellow on the bottom, that say “We Stand with Ukraine”. Distribute them to everyone you know. You will be amazed how grateful people are to get a sign to post in their windows.

• Write letters and ask kids to create artwork to send to Ukraine:

  Every Saturday in Woodland and many Saturdays in Davis, at our Farmer’s Markets, we host letter writing stations with stationary, pens, and crayons. These letters and kids’ artwork are so precious—the soldiers plaster the insides of their vehicles with them, and the wounded plaster the hospital walls with them. For adults, a simple message: “Greetings from California (or wherever). We have not forgotten you. We admire your courage. Please know you are not alone.” Wherever you live, have children make drawings— even two-year-old scribbles are treasured. • Attend rallies:

  On the 24th of every month, the Sunflower Society holds a rally for Ukraine on the west side of the California State Capitol. Each rally has a different theme. Summer hours are 7-9 PM. Ukrainian immigrants are moved to tears when regular Americans show up to show support. You can attend other rallies—like Indivisible rallies and carry “We support Ukraine” signs. Ukrainian and Russian immigrants who support Ukraine live everywhere, so no matter where you live you can find organizations you can support. Remember, they are so moved to have the support of “regular” Americans.

• Thank Congressman Thompson:

  He has been a great supporter of Ukraine. And he is a great supporter of Yolo for Ukraine. Call 202-225-0707 and ask him to co-sponsor H.R. 2548 to impose sanctions on Russia, and H.R.16 to recognize the war as a genocide.

• Call Senator Adam Schiff:

  Call Senator Schiff at 202-224-3841 and ask him to co-sponsor S.1241 which places additional sanctions on Russia.

• No matter where you live, call your Congresspeople often to say you support Ukraine:

  If they get 10 calls a day on Ukraine, 7 or 8 of them are against Ukraine from people are paid to call in against Ukraine. If you call in and mention a bill or resolution, they know you are a real constituent.

• Write letters to the editor:

  Keep public attention on this critical issue.

• Pray for Ukraine:

  At 8 Am Pacific time and simultaneously across the world, no matter what time zone—people have been praying for Ukraine for three years. Even Pope Francis joined us in these prayers.

We pray for freedom, independence, and a lasting peace in Ukraine—that immediately restores their borders and makes them whole again.
